Benefits of Being In a Relationship

Being in a long term relationship might not be everybody’s cup of tea, but it definitely has its benefits.

Have you ever thought about the benefits of being in a relationship? Being in a long term relationship might not be everybody’s cup of tea. Some people might prefer to keep their options open, others might love their single life, and others might just be scared of commitment. However, there are a series of benefits to being in a relationship that these people often forget about or don't take into account.

You Always Have Someone to Talk To

Whenever you feel like talking or rambling about something that is on your mind, your partner will always be ready to listen to you.

Just imagine coming home to an empty house from a bad day at work and not having anyone to turn to. It can be a lonely situation. But if you are in a relationship, you know your partner will be there and will be all ears.

Whatever is on your mind, you will be able to spit it out and your partner will be the best person to listen. Partners do not judge. They listen and can often offer advice if needed.

They are trusted people; there is no one better you could turn to.

Cooking For 2 Is Better Than Cooking For 1

If you know your way around a kitchen, this is possibly one of the best benefits of being in a relationship!

Do you enjoy cooking? How many times have you gotten takeout or heated up a frozen dinner just because cooking for one isn't worth the effort?

I have been there myself when I was single, and I absolutely love cooking. But when I was by myself it just felt like a big effort. It was just not fun to cook only for myself and to eat my meals alone in front of the TV.

Whenever I cooked I always ended up making too much food and having to eat the same meal three days in a row. That was not very enjoyable as I love variety and I got bored of the same taste.

If you have a partner, cooking becomes more fun. You can cook together and share tasks and responsibilities. You chop, I fry kind of thing.

You will probably still eat in front of the TV, but at least you will have somebody to share the fun with.

You Have a Travel Companion

How wonderful it is to be able to travel with your loved one? Ever wanted to go on a holiday or backpacking and all your mates weren't available?

You probably ended up going alone, met people along the way, and still had fun, but if you have a partner it can be so much more exciting. It is wonderful to be able to share your amazing experiences with the person you love the most.

Surely this is another one of the best benefits of being in a relationship.

Traveling with your partner will bring you closer and it will make your relationship stronger. You will still be able to meet lots of people, make new friends, and have the time of your lives.

My partner and I have been traveling non-stop since we got together. We have met so many people and made lots of new friends with whom we are still in touch. It has been incredible to share my passion for traveling with him.

You Have Somebody to Share Your Hobbies With

Many hobbies require a buddy, such as scuba diving, dancing, or rock climbing. No one will ever be a better buddy than your partner. Just because they know you so well, and it allows you to make memories together instead of on your own.

My partner and I are both scuba diving instructors. Scuba diving is what brought us together to begin with. We have been on some incredible dives together and I had no better dives than the ones I was able to do with him. We've seen manta rays, sharks, and turtles, just to name a few. Life's unforgettable moments are best shared with someone special.

You Have Someone that Supports You No Matter What

How could this not be on any list of benefits of being in a relationship?

You will not be alone against the world anymore. You partner will always support you no matter what.

If you have a crazy idea and need someone to bounce it off of, a good partner will support you and encourage you to go ahead with it if you seriously believe it could work. They can also help push you back in the right direction if the idea really takes a dive off of the wrong cliff.

A partner will support your beliefs and your aspirations. And of course you will have a shoulder to cry on during tough times.

You Can Learn From Each Other

Surely you and your partner will bring different skills and talents into the relationship and you will be able to learn from each other.

Teaching each other adds more fun to the relationship. It is always a great challenge to try improving yourself, and both you and your partner benefit from the lessons you each learn.

For example, my partner is an IT consultant and he’s being teaching me lots of stuff about computers and other IT skills. I managed to build my own website from scratch! That is very impressive considering I did not used to be very IT savvy.

On the other hand, I am originally from Italy and I am teaching him Italian so that he can communicate with my family.

Teaching each other is sweet and it is a way to show each other love and care.

You Will Never Pay For a Massage Again

I saved this for last because I believe that this must be the best benefit of being in a relationship.

Massages are becoming such a luxury, costing a fortune for a short period of pleasure.

If you have a partner you don’t have to worry about forking out the bucks for a relaxing massage anymore. You can give each other a massage and enjoy some great intimacy.

Something as simple as a foot massage in front of the TV can totally relax you and send you into another world.

There is nothing better than coming home from a long day out and having your partner massage your feet. What a treat and it’s free!

I could go on and on with the list. Being in a relationship is good. Life tastes better if you share it with someone.
