Every Touch (Pt. 1)

Moving Day

I wish I could say I liked moving. You'd think moving to a new area would be exciting and refreshing but for me, it wasn't. Moving, to me, means unpacking and heavy lifting which are things I don't like doing. What also makes my move terrible is the fact that it's almost October. October means snow, and snow means cold. I don't like the cold.

You'll find, unfortunately, that I dislike a lot of things. Maybe it would be easier to tell you the things that I DO like. I like warmth, coffee, television, food, sleeping, relaxing at home and not working and lastly, I really like the internet. You might say I'm 'lazy' but I say I'm 'not a hassle'. I'm a simple girl. I stay at home and mind my own business. I lived a pretty normal life... until I moved to this new place.

Let me explain what I mean.

"Do you really have to go dear?"

"Yes, mom. There's nothing for me here. I've looked everywhere for a job but this place is dead." Her mother looked slightly hurt but covered it up with a smile.

"Well.. wherever you go, please don't forget about me." There was obvious sadness in her voice. She grabbed her daughters wrist and rubbed the back of her hand with her thumb. "I'm going to miss my daughter."

Eleyna smiled at her mother and hugged her tight. She didn't want to leave but she needed to move on with her life. She was 22 already and still didn't have a job. If she stayed here much longer, she'd never want to leave home.

"I have to do this, mom. I'll call you when I get there. I promise." She turned to walk out the door, giving her mother one last smile.

"Crap. I'm almost out of gas." Eleyna said as she sighed loudly. Conveniently, there was a gas station not far from where she was at. As she made her way into the gas station parking lot, she noticed a man who looked oddly familiar to her. She squinted out of her window trying to get a better look. As she got closer and closer to the little store in front of her, she finally realized it was who she thought it was.

She got out of her car and walked over the mysterious man who was about to enter the store.

"Gabe?" Eleyna questioned, hoping it was who she thought it was, or else this would have been awkward. He turned around with a puzzled look on his face. He examined Eleyna for a few seconds before his eyes grew wide.

"Oh my god, Eleyna?!" Gabe's shocked expression was priceless. If Eleyna could have taken a picture of this moment, she'd cherish it forever. She laughed and looked him up and down. He was really muscular and had slightly long, brown hair that reached his mid-neck. His blue eyes could pierce through anyone's soul. He had some stubble on his face that fit him quite well.

"That's me," she replied with a smile. He really changed from when she last saw him. He was a little chubby, playing video games all day. She remembers he used to do YouTube game reviews and talked about his favorite games of the month. Man have times changed.

"You look really great! How have you been?" he asked, looking her up and down. She assumed he was thinking the same things as she was.

"I've been really great actually, I'm currently in the process of moving." she wasn't happy about it but again, it was something she had to do. He nodded and smiled at her. His teeth were sparkling white. She loved his smile.

"Where are you off to?" He asked. "Do you need any help moving?" He was sincere about wanting to help her. Again, he looked her up and down and bit his lip. What was he thinking?

She was hesitant about answering his question. Not because she didn't trust him but because she was trying to get inside his head. She wanted to know what he was thinking about. She thought she might have an idea.

"I'm headed out to Winnsborough. I'm trying to find a job out there. There's nothing for me here." She massaged the back of her neck, obviously uncomfortable with the way he was eyeing her. He must have realized what he was doing because he blinked and his face grew pink.

"That's actually near me." He said, still red-faced. "I can help you unpack and stuff if you wanted me to." He asked, watching her eyes. She took a second to think about it and nodded.

"Sure, I could use all the help I can get."
