BDSM used to be something that was rarely seen or head of, being on of the taboos things in the word that was talked about in hushed voices in other rooms. You probably imagine men in leather and woman wearing strap-ons for dominating a man; and in some way this is true and others not. Not all BDSM is like that, though come one, leather can feel very nice against your skin, but that's for another day. Right now, we are going to focus on Kitten Play.

Kitten Play is part of a sub category of BDSM called pet play. It is where the submissive acts more like an animal by wearing gear similar to that animal or by working in the same mannerisms. The Dominate will treat the submissive very similar to their own pets. Trained with treats, not allowed on the furniture, sometimes kept in a crate and much much more. We can go into other pet dynamics later but for now we are focusing on one of the biggest and growing pet, the kitten.

You may have seen someone that likes kitten play through multiple social medias (tumblr, Instagram, YouTube, and others) and may have never known it. Those that are into kitten play tend to wear fluffy ears, super long fluffy tails, and very elegant collars that are usually always made out of some kind of ribbon. There has been a lot of controversy over kitten girls over time on if they are truly into BDSM, or just into looking cute and pleasing.

Some could agree with this where others strongly disagree. For example, if you have someone claiming to be a kitten but only wants to gear and none of the power exchange because they are not into "being treated less then human" then are they really into kitten play/pet play? One of the key aspects of pet play is to be treated like an animal, treat liked something that can be seen as lower then human because they enjoy being loved and degraded in that manner. It can be one of the most loving and caring forms of BDSM out of CGL (for a later day).

This doesn't mean you have to eat out of a bowl on the floor, or go potty outside/in a tub. But you can't just strip away one of the key elements of the dynamic just so you can fit into a growing and popular online community. If you honestly interested in being a kitten girl it is highly recommended to look up things online, read books, and talk it through with your partner on what should be expected out of it; and always remember to be safe and consensual.
