Understanding Male and Female Orgasms

While it differs from person to person, understanding male and female orgasms can help you have a better grasp of your partner's experience.

Have you ever wondered what it feels like when a someone of the opposite sex has an orgasm? Chances are, you did. Everyone does. Orgasms are one of the hardest sensations to really describe, because you need the right body parts in order to really understand what it feels like.

That being said, there have been some pretty valiant efforts at explaining what an orgasm feels like for both men and women. Here's what each gender says about orgasms, as well as some notes from people who transitioned.

Men said...

Guys said that building up to an orgasm gets increasingly pleasurable the closer that they get. Reddit user Khamul said, "Once you hit this point of no return, you'll ejaculate whether you stop or keep going. I'm not really sure how to describe "holding it," but once you hit the PoNR, you can 'clench' your muscles and try to hold back. The longer you can hold it, the better it feels when it's released."

Another user explained that having an orgasm, as a man, is a lot like a sneeze. He said, "Imagine combining the pleasure of sex with the forceful and automatic release of a sneeze. Not the kind of sneeze that you hold back and make your ears pop. The kind of sneeze that knocks you on your ass because you made no attempt to contain it."

A general consensus is that having an orgasm from sex or oral sex is better than having an orgasm from masturbation. Moreover, they also said that the longer they hold it in, the better it feels. Typical male orgasms are almost instantaneous, and afterwards, they feel a nice relief.

Women said...

One thing that's interesting about the female orgasm is that most women say that they can feel a warm sensation as they build up to the Big O. Moreover, most women can have different kinds of orgasms - many of which depend on what parts are being massaged or hit.

All that can really be said about orgasms is that women feel some movement down there - and that they like it. How it feels in terms of intensity seems to vary depending on who you are, and what you did to cross that finish line.

As one Bustlewriter noted, "I’ve had women describe their orgasms as “tremors,” “little blips of pleasure,” “an out-of-body experience,” “a small sigh,” “hurts-so-good,” and “an intense, focused pinpoint of pleasure.” These individual experiences are just so different that it makes the word “orgasm” hard to describe!"

That being said, porn star Mary Carey said something that men will likely understand: she likened it to finally being able to pee after holding it in for a very long time.

Unlike men, who tend to feel a "relief" and sense of completion after a good orgasm, women might not feel that. In fact, they may want more. This is normal, since there are way more multi-orgasmic women then they are multi-orgasmic men.

From what we can tell, female orgasms last longer.

Trans people said...

First off, yes, trans people can have orgasms after sex reassignment surgery. Transwomen can get wet down there just like ciswomen. One transwoman by the name of Nomi explained the mental side of orgasm's change pretty interestingly in a Vogueinterview:

"“Before [SRS], sex was almost violent,” she said. “It was like shooting a gun, like I’ve got to get rid of this. But now I really have to be present and be into the person in order for my body to react."

Another transwoman said that it's also much harder to reach orgasm as a woman than it is a man.

Transmen also can get hard like cismen can, however, there's no current way to make a fully functional penis. There's also a much larger variation on how transmen tend to show their gender. This can make orgasm more along the line of what women feel, depending on how far they've gone with surgery.

Overall, it's a good feeling.

No matter what equipment you're packing, orgasms feel good. "Nuff said.
