The Sweetest Addiction

Part 1

It was only a second, but the moment their eyes met something changed in the air. The room seemed silent all of a sudden and a prickled head rushed throughout her entire body. Who was this man?

His dark eyes watched her and though she desperately wanted to look away, she couldn’t. She was mesmerised… Even the crowd between them seemed to part then fade away, the blaring music fading to just a whisper until suddenly, it was just them.

She found herself biting her lip at the feel of his eyes scanning down her body and his stare almost felt like a gentle caress over her breasts then slowly down the curve of her waist and after a sharp intake of breath, she took the chance to return the favour.

His thick, russet hair begged for her fingers to run through it and his strong, chiseled jawline craved the run of her teeth before they teasingly bit down on his bottom lip. Was it even possible for a stranger to make her think like this, feel like this?

She couldn’t help it… slowly, her hazel eyes dropped lower. His low, open white collared shirt revealed just enough of his solid, wide chest and even through his blazer she could see the full shape of his biceps. Oh, how she wanted them around her, pushed against her as he cupped her full bottom before lifting her so her back was pressed against the wall and her legs wrapped tightly around his waist.

Suddenly she was hot, her cheeks and chest flushing a deep crimson.

In the space of what must have been a minute this man had made her feel things she had never felt before and she couldn’t help but think, why me? She was a nobody if anything average in this room full of beautiful people but for some reason, this man’s stare had not wavered.

He was a predator… and Holly the prey.

Everything within her told her to go to him, the pull of his gaze drawing her in but something inside; a doubting voice rooted her to the spot. Danger it whispered, but her mind was in too much of a haze to listen; the pull of him now almost too overpowering.

Before she could fully register what was happening she was moving forward, one foot after the other slowly moving closer to him. Am I dreaming? She thought briefly.

The people around them didn’t seem real; their chatter, laughter, and squeals like echoes from another realm being drowned out by the thunder of her increasing heartbeat. Even the steps she was taking towards him seemed like they were on air.

She was scared. Scared of how her body was moving of its own accord and even more so of her mind and the thoughts currently occupying it. The things he was doing to her, his touch his kiss, his passion… oh, the passion.

She couldn’t stop herself. Her mind raced, the thought of him sending overwhelming sensations deep inside of her. She had to know him; she had to have him.

*****

Unexpected was the only word to describe it, yet such an understatement. One hundred and fifty years on this Earth and Eli had never seen an energy like hers.

Her aura was a deep and vibrant red with violet splashes throughout and as she moved, a pink energy entwined itself around her.

He was mesmerised.

Eli had promised himself he could control that side of him, only feeding when desperately needed but by God, her energy called to him, like the seductive song of a siren to the ears of a lost sailor.

As an incubus, Eli needed to feed off of the sexual energy of others, it was a fact he could not deny but though it was a vital part of his survival, it had also become an addiction. To feel was… intoxicating.

For so long, Eli had denied himself, becoming almost celibate to protect those around him but this woman, her energy… He was doomed and when their eyes connected he could no longer fight it, he had to have her.

He began his persuasion, luring her in as her eyes fixated on his. He knew what he was doing, that the moment she was in his arms and he had his first sweet taste of her energy he would be lost, spiraling back down that road of addiction that he had fought so hard to escape but how could he deny himself this?

He watched as her eyelids grew heavy and could almost hear her gasp as his persuasion took effect, showing her exactly what he would do to her. He knew she could feel each soft kiss on her neck and the trail of his hand moving up her dress, God how he wanted to feel what was up there, to taste the product of each kiss and each stroke.

Their minds connected and he had to stop himself from physically stumbling from its strength. It was like nothing he had ever felt before. He watched as their energies locked together in the air, his electric blue entwining with her deep red, mixing together, turning into a vibrant dancing purple and in that moment she began walking towards him, her cheeks and chest flushing a deep crimson, a result of the images he was showing her.

He’d never seen a beauty like her. Her long, brunette curls fell just below her perfectly plump breasts; their size accentuated more by the scarlet flushing across them. Each step she took was sensual, the slip of her tight black dress sliding, showing a teasing hint of her shapely thighs… He had to have her.

What little remained of Eli’s self-control was slipping. With each step that she took towards him and each thought, he projected onto her in an attempt to lure her to he, He himself was being lured.

Oh, how he wanted –needed– to do the things he was showing her, to watch her full breasts rise and fall with each heavy breath as his hands trailed up the outside of her thigh; pushing her dress to her waist, revealing the black, lacy material beneath.

Her delicate nape drew him in, begging for his tongue to slide down its length as his fingers moved the lace between them. He could almost feel how wet she was and grew hard at the thought of sliding inside of her, hearing her moan as he pushed in deeper, filling her with his size.

He could no longer fight it. He would have her tonight… his road back to addiction well and truly paved.

His eyes were hypnotic and as Holly moved closer she noticed that they were actually a bright, piercing green, a contrast to the darkness she first saw. The room and the people around them continued to drift away until suddenly, she was there, standing in front of him as he gazed down at her; his piercing eyes penetrating hers.

He was magnificent, taller than she first thought and his chest wide enough to take outdoor frames. She couldn’t help but feel intimidated as he towered over her, his stare like that of an animal about to pounce. She was almost lost in his gaze, her mind clouded with erotic images and her body feeling every illusory touch… Is this what it felt like to be touched? To give a man your body and let them have their way with you. I’d been missing out.

“I’m sorry I…” She began when she found herself standing in front of him, desperately searching for her voice but still my mind was hazed. “I don’t know why I have come over here, I just-”

“I’m glad you have.” He cut in, his deep voice like silk, each syllable caressing her already sensitive skin. “Tell me, what is your name?”

Shit. Is it possible for someone to forget their own name?

“It’s erm… It’s…” Holly! her mind screamed, some still sane part of her shaking her head in disapproval at the bumbling idiot she had become. “Holly. My name is Holly.”

“Eli.” He introduced himself offering her a hand and for a moment she was scared to take it, the thought of actually touching him seeming like it would send her body into overdrive.

His hand continued to linger and eventually, she took it, her skin touching his for the first time. Electricity seemed to shoot through them sending her knees week and if not for his grip she knew she would have fainted.

A breathy, whispered ‘Wow’ left her lips as the sensations flowing through her body made all fear and worry slowly fade away sending her into an almost trance-like state. All she could see was him and although they were surrounded it was like a sensual heat cocooned them, placing them in their own little world.

What was happening to her? For years no man or woman had ever interested her. She was proud of her innocence, the fact that as all her friends went out purposely to pull guys she just went out to have fun and the fact that when all of her friends boasted about their escapades she could proudly say she had had none. Holly had kept her innocence and for a long time she was glad to be innocent to sexuality but not now, now she wanted to know it all.

“Do you feel that, Holly?”

Her name rolled from his lips like silk as his eyes pulled her gaze to their still touching hands.

“F… Feel what?”

Her shocking attempt to play it cool wasn’t fooling anyone and in return he smiled, revealing a perfect set of pearly white teeth.

“This.”

Softly, his grip loosened and his long fingers slid along her palm until their hands were entwined. Again, heat shot through her and her knees went weak when she felt his other hand flat against her back before he pulled her in closer, so close that she could feel his stiff bulge pulsing against her stomach.

She was breathless and the words she was desperately searching for were nowhere to be found, lost like the girl who had first walked into this bar tonight. Through the haze that filled her mind a moment of clarity hit, what was she doing?

“Please, stop.” She begged, more breathy than intended. “This, this isn’t me.”

His lips were so close to her’s as he purred, “Oh, but I think it is. I noticed you the moment you stepped foot in this bar Holly and your energy is like nothing I have ever seen.”

“Energy?”

“So many women, so many auras and yet, I have never come across one as beautiful as yours.” He continued as if he hadn’t even heard her question and she felt his grip on her back tighten. “For so long I have denied myself, refusing to give into my addiction, but how can the even the God’s themselves possibly expect me to deny myself this?”

He spoke dazedly as if he wasn’t speaking to her at all but to himself and as she listened to the haze in her own mind began to clear. What was she doing? Who was this man? She didn’t know him, he could be a serial killer for all she knew and here she was with his arm wrapped around her and his lips -his perfect lips- inches from her’s. What the fluff am I doing?! Her mind screamed.

“I, I have to go.”

Sudden panic rushed through her and her arms shot up to push him away but he didn’t budge, his huge frame like concrete and her feeble attempt to move him like a feather compared.

“Please.” She pleaded but he acted as if he didn’t hear her. “Please, just let me go.”

Images flooded her mind, erotic images of the two of them doing things she didn’t even know were possible and again the haze began to take over. What is this? What the hell is happening to me? Her mind screamed again. She had to get out of there.

It happened so fast, her mind was spinning, fighting back the haze when suddenly his lips were on her’s, wet and soft as they moved passionately and she realised that I too was kissing him back.

Again, clarity hit and with strength she didn’t know she had she pushed him away; freeing herself from his grip and after a desperate stumble backwards she turned and ran as fast as her legs would take her, then, just as she reached the bar's exit she risked one last look back at the terrifying but handsome stranger who had stolen her fist kiss.

*****

How was this possible? Panic flooded through him, overtaking the initial shock he’d felt when their lips touched and he could do nothing but watch as she ran from him before mockingly stopping to take one last look at the man she had doomed.

Irony came to mind.

For centuries I had fought against my addiction and though there were times I had truly believed it would beat me I had overcome it, time after time I had overcome it… until tonight.

Though he was panicked Eli couldn’t help but let out a small laugh. Irony surely did come to mind.

Tonight he’d allowed the incubus inside him to win and though he’d feigned a fight, from the moment she’d walked through that door he knew deep down that he would take her. Considering the consequences of that had it have happened the fate awaiting him now was far less than he deserved.

The sweet taste of her lingered on his lips and he felt her energy begin to take him over, seeping inside of him, twisting and turning around every vein and organ within his body. She was now a part of him and until he had transferred her energy to his, slowly and painfully she would destroy him from within.

Of all the bars in all the towns, who would have thought tonight he would find his mate? And what’s worse is that she’s human, so if Eli was to take her as needed to be done… he would lose her. His addiction would make sure of that.

The Gods surely did have a sense of humour.

He’d heard stories of what happens when an incubus does not claim his mate and in truth, it terrified him. Incubi had lost their minds as their mate's energy ate away at them from the inside. After the initial ecstasy the energy released, slowly, it would begin to feel like snakes laced in acid slithering through his veins and if left too long, it would start to eat away at his sanity; turning him crazed until eventually… it stops. Along with his life.

Eli’s fate was sealed, and with that, as his final thought he turned and downed the lone shot of whiskey sitting atop the bar before storming out into the night knowing that tonight may well be his last…
