The Disappearance of Derrick Dime

Porn stars cycle through the industry faster than a guy sends a dick pic to a love interest. Very few stay around and make a real name for themselves in the industry; Girth Brooks, Christian Wilde, and Colby Jansen are the only three gay porn stars that jump to mind that have had careers that have lasted for years. Derrick Dime seemed to be on the verge of joining that elite (and sexy) club. And then he retired never to be heard from again.

Derrick has about a dozen clips floating around the porn-verse. Many of them have racked up hundreds of thousands of views, with at least three hitting at least one million views. At the height of his fame, critics and fans called Derrick gay porn's answer to straight porn superstar James Deen. He had the classic boy next door look coupled with a cock that almost every gay man wants to suck. All of the ingredients were there for a career that would last a long time.

Then after filming a scene one day, Derrick announced that he was retiring. There was no explanation, not even a "hey guys, I want to fuck chicks." When he made the announcement, many people speculated that he was just trying to increase his scene fee and that a studio would offer him gobs of money to lure him back into a movie that would mint cash on its own.

Curiously that never happened. Social media accounts that were set up for Derrick are still up, but none have had any activity since 2017, with the most recent tweet coming in June of 2016. The rest of the activities were the account holder liking things from Colby Jansen and Derrick's former production company, Next Door Studios.

Even weirder, when Googling to see if anyone had heard from him, nothing comes up. Even a Google search of Kyle Dean brings up his death and Derrick was arguably more popular than Kyle. In normal circumstances, someone will claim that they know the dude and he got married and wanted to forget his porn past. There's not even a hint of that douchery. It's like the internet forgot that it's supposed to be pretentious and hateful.

There's not even a real name floating out there for Derrick. Again this is unusual because finding out the actual name of porn stars is a pass time for avid porn fans. Somehow, Derrick avoided getting his real name released to the public. That's a trick some of the up and coming porn stars are going to be curious about.

Someone suggested drugs may have played a part in his sudden retirement. While the theory stands to reason, the porn industry is known to have a higher than the normal average of addicts, Derrick didn't seem to be losing weight or gaunt. Weight loss isn't always a great indicator of drug use, for example, Kyle Dean is proof of that. But given Derrick's everyman persona and body type, it would be at least one sign. And the rumors would have followed him as he left porn, but he seems to have completely disappeared altogether.

A once promising career came to an abrupt end, with no explanation. Was foul play involved? Maybe but that seems to be doubtful, though it would explain how the internet was scrubbed of this gorgeous man, except for the clips, which someone is profiting from. The more likely scenario though is that he was just careful about his real identity and left porn before he grew too famous that his secret life would be exposed one day.
