*The Agony Element™ was discovered and trademarked by PTSD-Related Intimacy Issues Expert and Sexual Anthropologist, American Authoress Nannette LaRee Hernandez, who noted a discernible pattern amongst the 8,347 men and women that suffered from Acute, Chronic or Complex Traumas, who'd sought her sexual advice in relation to their Intimacy Issues.

Hernandez determined that each individual fell into one of two Agony Element™ Life-Enacting Categories, either as an AELE Victim or as an AELE Executor, and that each individual correspondingly fell into one of four Agony Element™ Sexual-Release Subcategories: AESR Submissive, AESR Dominate, AESR Sadist, or AESR Masochist, and that the milady of each individual’s trauma was not an indicator of The Agony Element™ Life-Enacting Category or The Agony Element™ Sexual-Release Subcategory, into which they fell.

For example:

  1. A female librarian who had been raped, suffered from Acute Trauma, and was an AELE Executor who was also an AESR Sadist.
  2. A male United States Marine with war-related PTSD, suffered from Complex Trauma, and was an AELE Victim who was also an AESR Dominate.

Hernandez recognised through her analysis that sexual release with a trusted partner who knew their mate’s secrets, and who accepted their mate’s core damage, was the primordial solution to relieving numerous aspects of Acute, Chronic and Complex Traumas

Hernandez also identified that when an individual deliberately chose or remained with an unsuitable romantic partner in order to disguise or to ‘normalize’ their suppressed sexual desires and kinks, and/or their personal flaws, twists, divergences and core-damage, that it significantly amplified their pain, and overtly crippled their life, leading Hernandez to conclude that this is the underlying reason why most romantic relationships are so problematic, arduous, complicated and subjugated with drama, when taking into account that innumerable people are damaged, and that they tend to conceal, rather than reveal.

Ultimately, Hernandez determined that individuals who suffer from Acute, Chronic or Complex Traumas—and who choose or remain with romantic partners to whom they can show their true self, unbury their past, or exorcise their pain—eventually develop ease within their own skin, and become definitively content within their environment; whereas individuals who suffer from Acute, Chronic or Complex Traumas that choose or remain with romantic partners in whom they are unable to reveal their inner torment, their true selves, or their past history, experience a discontent life of personal sabotage, anguish, self-loathing, self-criticism, guilt, shame, bitterness, and abject regret.

§Agony Element™ Definitions§

The Agony Element™ Life-Enacting Categories:

  • AELE Victim: a person who is compliant, both in how they see themselves and in how they present themselves to the world, in reaction to their Acute, Chronic or Complex Trauma.
  • AELE Executor: a person who is defiant, both in how they see themselves and in how they present themselves to the world, in reaction to their Acute, Chronic or Complex Trauma.

The Agony Element™ Sexual-Release Subcategories:

  • AESR Submissive: a person who expels their trauma by acts of malleable acquiescence, with a consensual sexual partner. Example: a person who needs to be dressed like a slave and commanded to perform oral sex on their partner.
  • AESR Dominate: a person who expels their trauma by acts of subjugate mastery, with a consensual sexual partner. Example: a person who wants to masturbate with a sex toy, as their handcuffed partner licks their shoes.
  • AESR Sadist: a person who expels their trauma by acts that physically transfer their core-afflictions, to a sexually consensual partner. Example: a person who needs gratification from the pain that anal sex causes their partner, who does not necessarily enjoy the act.
  • AESR Masochist: a person who expels their trauma by acts that require physical pain from a sexually consensual partner. Example: a person who wants their partner to inflict pain on their naked body with a bullwhip, as they masturbate to orgasm.

Acute, Chronic and Complex Trauma Definitions:

  • Acute Trauma: stems from a single incident—such as rape, a bad car accident or a Natural Disaster.
  • Chronic Trauma: recurring, repeated and prolonged trauma—such as child abuse and neglect, or domestic violence. Individuals who suffer from Chronic Trauma, often suffer from C-PTSD. (Complex Post Traumatic Stress Syndrome)
  • Complex Trauma: exposure to varied and multiple traumatic events—often of an aggressive, warlike, and interpersonal nature, such as military combat.

Hernandez's discovery, research and analysis has been presented to the American Psychological Association and multiple other venues for Journal Publication and Research Presentation.
