Short Chapter:

Kadie hadn't fallen asleep. After all, it was only 4:02 PM. Instead, after her shower, she sat on her bed and stared at the ceiling. She wondered what the feeling in her chest was. She felt stupid for feeling, and the worst part was that she didn't know who it was for. She kept going over scenarios in her head about Will. His kiss was intoxicating and yet... careful. It was as if he cared.

Damien, however, made you feel taken care of: safe.

She'd only been lying in bed, staring at the ceiling for less than an hour before someone knocked on her door. She sat up, staring at the door, and hoping it was Damien.

"Come in!" she said, fixing her hair and covering her legs with her blanket.

Will walked in, making Kadie frown slightly.

"Oh," she said.

"Hey. Come in, what's up?" she asked. Her voice shook slightly as she realized she had completely left him in the middle of a hallway that he had gone out of his way to show her.

"I'm sorry for disappearing earlier," Kadie said, allowing Will to sit with her on the bed.

"It's alright," he whispered, turned so he was facing her. "My brother gets what he wants. And he did claim you, so I have no business getting angry at you."

He smiled sadly and took awe hand. "I would kiss you, but I think it's best if I don't." He laughed and laid down, still holding her hand. "I wouldn't want to catch feelings," he joked and Kadie shook her head, finding her voice.

"What happens if the girls fall in love?" she asked, thinking about the men and other soldiers in the facility.

Will shrugged. "They can be in love all they want, they still belong to Damien. Take Kaitlyn, for example, she was here for ten years before she bought her freedom. Five years in, she fell in love with my assistant nurse. Handsome fellow, really. He was charming. They got married during her sixth or seventh year, but she continued to serve until they were able to buy their freedom and retire. I think she has kids now."

Kaide felt confusion as she listened. "She was married and he still made her do things with him?"

Will shrugged. "I mean, yeah, it's not the first time. I think half his girls don't realize they're just play-things to him. I don't really believe he'll ever fall in love. He's too carefree. Too unattached and uncommitted. I mean, if I had to guess, he was with you for like two hours and then left to another girl, am I right?"

Kadie shrugged. "More or less."

Will chuckled. "That's usually how it goes." He stood up, pulling something from his back pocket before handing it to Kadie.

"Here," he said, holding a small book out to her. "It's for you. I usually don't interact with my patients like this, but I want you to have it. Ever since that day you came into my office... I don't know, I can't stop thinking about you." Will smiled at Kadie and she felt something in her chest tighten again was the feeling of vulnerability came back. It was... different. She didn't know this feeling so well, but it was there.

Kadie took the book and looked at the cover, "Dolores, (Notre-Dame des Sept Douleurs) by Algernon Charles Swinborne." She read quietly. The book wan't think. It was but twenty small pages, and yet Kadie felt as if it was the biggest thing in the room. "Thank you," she whispered. He nodded and Kadie thought for a moment before she asked. "What about you?"

"I'm sorry?" He asked, confusion on his features.

"Do you think of girls as play-things?" Kadie questioned, looking into his eyes.

William seemed to think for a moment before he answered. "I suppose if I did, I'm sure my brother would have disowned me for using his girls, but until yesterday, I had yet to even kiss any of his girls. You're the first, and that was due to something different. I don't know what it was, but you were different when you came in. Usually, the girls are confused, scared, sometimes they have so many questions that it's hard to keep up. You didn't. You weren't scared or confused. You walked in as if you knew everything. I know you watched me do my report. I watched as you began subconsciously spreading your legs while I was working. I wasn't just interested in sex, but before I even heard you speak, I knew you loved to learn. I knew you liked a smart guy. I knew you were intelligent. That's why I got you one of my favorite ballads. I took the liberty of highlighting some of my favorite verses. I hope you like it." He leaned in and stopped before kissing Kadie.

Kadie tilted her head in confusion, wondering why he wasn't kissing her. She wanted him to, so badly. "What's wrong?" She whispered, her eyes searching his.

"Can I?" he asked, leaning in.

She closed her eyes and nodded. "Yes," she breathed softly.

She felt his breath on her lips and his nose brushed against hers before his lips met hers. He captured her breath, kissing her lightly at first before moving in closer. He was careful with her: delicate. She leaned back on the bed, inviting him closer. He hovered in plank position, capturing her bottom lip with his teeth. She moaned involuntarily and pulled him closer, wrapping her arms around his neck. She tangled her hands in his hair and let him kiss her deeper: this time his tongue explored the inside of her mouth and she opened wider, inviting him in. Eventually, she pulled back and allowed him access to her neck, where he kissed down. He made his way down from her neck to the top of her shirt. He squeezed her breast over her shirt and she moaned again, this time arching her back.

He moved up, capturing her lips again and pulling her closer to him. Eventually, he pulled away, looking down at her lips and then to her eyes. "I think I should go," he whispered. Kadie nodded. "You know, before we go too far."

"Right, uh, yeah," Kadie said, still dazed from his kiss. She then came to the realization of what he was saying. "Wait, what?" she chuckled as his face became red when he blushed. "You're scared of going too far, but you were practically almost inside me yesterday?" She chuckled and sat up as he sat next to her, grinning in embarrassment. She couldn't help but wonder if he didn't find her attractive enough to fuck her and then she realized insecurities were a waste fo time.

"Look," he chuckled. "Yesterday, I wasn't planning on giving you my favorite reading piece. I was thinking with the wrong head, and after a nice..." he coughed, "Release. I know that this thing I feel is more than physical. So, maybe I want to get to know you more. And maybe I'm giving you a break after my brother had you. I know girls tend to be tired afterwards. Some try to get caffeine pills for the day if they do things in the morning and they need energy for the day. The thing is, I can't be using you like he does. That isn't me." He said. He then leaned in and gave Kadie another kiss on the lips, wrapping his arms around her for the last time before standing. "I'm gonna get going. I'll let you get that reading done. See you tomorrow?" He asked. Will's eyes searched hers and Kadie wanted so badly to lean forward and kiss him again- to rip his clothes off and at least make-out naked. She was tired, but she also knew he was hot... and such a good kisser.

Kadie nodded, holding the book to her chest. "Ummm, Can we do it in that hallway you showed me? Maybe you can teach me how to get to it from my room." Kadie smiled at him and he nodded, opening the door.

"I'll be here at 9 AM. Be ready." Will winked at her and walked out, closing the door lightly.

Kadie fell back on her bed, holding the book to her chest and staring at the ceiling before grinning and biting her thumb. "What just happened?" she whispered before giggling and turning over on her stomach. The feeling in her stomach didn't disappear, so instead, she leaned against the headboard and began reading the copy of Dolores she had in her hand, hoping that whatever it was with Will wasn't going to: a.) be a problem with Damien, and b.) wasn't going to bring her any trouble in any way.
