Normally, I would be the first of the carnival workers to be excited for the costume contest we held annually. But this year, my wreck of a love life had really taken its toll on me, and my mood has been affecting my charisma for the art of costume selling. Its so bad, I only came to work with cat ears and some black press on nails.

"Girl, if you wanna keep this job, I suggest you get creative. Jason doesn't look very impressed by your lack of sales today." Lacey, my close friend and the best make up artist in town, was the only reason I got out of bed this morning. I wasn't sure what I'd do without her pushy personality to break me out of my weekly emotional crises.

"Why don't you just cover for me and I can go home and wallow with chocolate chip ice cream?" I suggested with a grin and she laughed, shaking her head. Lacey wasn't much of a pity giver. Bad things would happen to her and she'd brush it off her shoulders like it never happened. I wish that kind of resilience would rub off on me.

"I will not allow you to mourn Zack like he was the end all be all. He was just a guy you dated for a year. Who also decided to move across the country and leave you behind. That man never deserved you." Lacey reminded me. Zack had been my first serious relationship since I graduated college last spring and I would've married him if he hadn't shown me his true colors last week by leaving so much as a note on my desk the morning after I decided to give him my virginity.

"It just...sucks that's all. I don't feel like being here." I replied, shuffling around the costumes along the racks, picking out the ones I knew were going to sell quickly.

"I know, honey. But you're young, and you're absolutely gorgeous. I wouldn't have been able to keep my hands off you." she commented with a wink and my cheeks burned at the compliment. Lacey casually flirted with both sexes and it always fascinated me how she could handle tackling both dating scenes. It was hard enough dating a man much less a woman. Not that I would know. I've dated men my whole life but secretly found women to be just as attractive.

"So it wasn't my plain looks that drove him away?" I teased and she gave me a look, letting me know the statement was far from the truth.

"Oh, look at this one. Try it on." Lacey offered, taking the bohemian maxi dress off the rack. The split along of the side of the dress screamed sexy gypsy and it actually tempted me to put it on for some reason.

"It's beautiful. Where did it come from?" I asked, touching the soft material. It felt like an actual dress, rather than the tacky fabric Halloween costume designers usually used.

"Jason brought some of these over from the thrift store. Something about budgets and whatnot. Go on and try it on. I'll cover for you out front until you're ready." Lacey suggested and I nodded in agreement, my attention glued to the dress until I reached the dressing room we built from scratch. Closing the curtain behind me, I glanced at myself in the self-standing mirror in front of me, noticing the dark circles underneath my eyes, the redness in them they held from crying myself to sleep all week. I didn't like the woman staring back at me. I wanted to be just as strong, confident and stunning as Lacey was. It was silly of me to think this dress would be the answer to my prayers but there was just something about it. I had to put it on.

So I undressed, starting with my boots, then moved along to my black sweats and turtle neck. I glanced at the bland underwear I decided to put on this morning, noticing how the nude color completely blended into my skin, making me look almost naked. I seriously needed a wardrobe change. And it was going to start with this dress.

I felt it as soon as the fabric wrapped around my skin. The way I held my chin up, my posture straightened, my cheeks flushed a pretty rose color, my lips even looked a bit bigger. There was a headband that came along with the dress, so I took the pins out of my dark hair and my wavy tresses fell across my shoulders. The headband completed the look and I smiled when I saw how the dress outlined what curves I did have and gave my decent sized boobs a much needed lift.

Now this, this is what I loved about dressing up for Halloween. It turned you into a completely different person. At least for the season. I heavily desired to be anyone else but the pathetic girl who's boyfriend discarded her so coldly.

"It's getting busy out here. What's the hold up?" Lacey asked as she peaked her head into the dressing room. Her smile brightened as she entered and closed the curtains behind her. Her gaze traveled from my bare feet to the headband wrapped around my forehead. There was more than appreciation in her eyes. She liked what she saw. I could tell because she licked her lips quickly and cleared her throat.

"You look beautiful, Leah." she said and I returned her smile, taking one last look at myself in the mirror before I put my boots on.

"Thank you. I'm totally keeping this dress." I mentioned, laughing as I gathered my clothes and began to fold them. When I felt Lacey's hand cover my own, I looked up at her and studied her curious expression.

"If I asked you to do something for me, would you?" she asked me and I placed my clothes aside, hiding them behind other racks of clothes so I could take them home later.

"Of course, anything."

"What if you could forget Zach for a moment and focus on...somebody else? Someone who's had their eye on your for a while but didn't have the guts to just come out and say it?" she asked and I stared at her, the sound of the crowd forming outside the tent growing louder.

"Would I happen to know this person?" I asked in return and she nodded, stepping closer to me, her hand lifting itself upon my cheek. I stood still, frozen by her sudden actions, and waited for her to finish.

"What if that person really wanted to kiss you right now?" she whispered, her dark gaze looking down at my lips, causing me to swallow down my nerves. I'd never kissed a girl before. During occasional daydreams, I have. But Lacey was making me feel things I never knew I had in me. She stirred a pot that I wasn't sure I was ready to deal with. But I sure wanted to at this moment.

"Ladies! These costumes aren't going to sell themselves!" the sound of Jason's voice coming from outside the tent caused Lacey to pull away from me.

"Lacey, I--" I started and she shook her head, lifting herself up with that confidence she wore so well on her shoulders.

"Don't worry about it. Lets go make some money."

I had just finished announcing tonight's carnival costume winner and the goblin slash sexy werewolf girl bowed down before the audience surrounding us, waving at her admirers as she held up her one hundred dollar gift card to spend in any restaurant in town. Once the crowd started to dissolve, I noticed the other tent across from ours that was usually busy at this time of night. Caroline, the carnival's own gypsy fortune teller usually had a line that held at least fifty people but tonight, I've only noticed at least five people go in to get their fortunes told.

"What's going on with Caroline? It's been quiet over there all night." I mentioned to Lacey, who was busy cashing us out for the night, placing the money we earned from selling costumes and doing Halloween make up into the deposit bag. The carnival workers usually handed these over to Jason so he'd deposit the money into the bank and the company would be able to direct deposit our earnings into our accounts.

"No idea. But bring her some of this. They're delicious." Lacey insisted, handing me a bag full of some sugar cookies Marco had brought over earlier from his carnival food station.

"Will you be okay here while I go cheer her up?" I asked her and she smiled at me, sending me her usual wink.

"I'll be fine. I'll start cleaning up and meet you later." she offered and I nodded, stepping closer to her to give her a hug. She didn't hesitate to hug me back. But I could feel her shoulders tense as I held her.

"Thank you. For being there for me." I told her and I could feel her smile against my cheek.

"Go before I rip that dress off you." she teased and I smirked, laughing as I pulled away and made my way towards Caroline's tent. The woman was in her late twenties but she didn't look a day over twenty at all. I often asked her what her secret was and she simply smiled wickedly, blaming her ancestors for her youthful skin.

"Leah, I'm so glad you stopped by!" she exclaimed excitedly, bring her hands together as she stood up from her seat and gave me a hug.

"I brought some treats." I offered with a smile and the twinkle in her eyes informed me she somehow already knew.

"What would a woman do without some sweets to keep her mind off the problems of the world?" she asked as she dipped her hand into the bag and brought out the sugar filled cookie to her mouth and took a bite. The red lipstick she'd been wearing left its imprint on her treat and I laughed when she groaned out loud with pleasure.

"I love me some Marco. That man can cook." Caroline commented and I smirked. She sure wasn't wrong. Marco made the carnival treats by hand from scratch. He insisted it tasted better that way and judging by how many people bought from him during the Halloween season, he was right.

"It's been a busy night. So I thought I'd stop by and check up on my favorite fortune teller." I responded and she giggled as she finished her cookie and licked her red lips. It complimented her darker complexion and I wondered where exactly she bought the shade from. The color wasn't exactly red. It had some coral and some blue in it as well.

"Baby girl, you know better than to lie to a gypsy." Caroline corrected and I grinned, crossing my arms as I sat across from her.

"Guilty. I suppose I came to cheer both of us up. Its been a long week..." I mentioned and she nodded, her sharp black nails circling the crystal ball in the middle of her table.

"Your ex-boyfriend would've never made you happy, Leah. That's someone else's job. Someone...you're rather close to." she added cryptically. I should be used to the oddities that came with a conversation with Caroline but I wasn't. Most people who came to get their fortunes told didn't believe in her craft and I had to admit, I was still a little skeptical myself but she did seem to be very perceptive about certain things.

"Can you tell me who it is, Madam Caroline?" I teased and she grinned, reaching for my palm. I entertained her antics and placed my palm against her own. Her eyebrows lifted up, as if she were surprised about something. I looked down at my hand, feeling silly for trying to see what she saw.

"What is it?"

"Your soul. It's...very old. Very sad too. But I can fix it! If you allow me, of course." Caroline insisted and I looked at her suspiciously, not really sure if she was serious or not.

"What's your price, lady?"

"Just the pleasure of telling me what you desire the most." she answered and I chuckled.

"Wouldn't you already know that?" I asked and she smirked, baring her white-tooth smile afterwards.

"It helps if you say it out loud. Gives me the juice to make it happen for you. Unless you think you're not ready." she baited and I raised an eyebrow.

"I'm no coward. Challenge accepted." I replied seriously and she nodded, reaching for my other hand. I gave it to her and closed my eyes.

"I want you to tell me what you desire the most. Look deep enough now. What would you like to happen right now? At this very moment in time?" she asked calmly. I could feel my skin tingling, the odd sensation coursing through my body.

"I..." I started, my thoughts scrambling around at first, then stopped as I pictured Lacey's face. Her olive skin toned complexion, her full pouty lips, her beautiful curls as my fingers dipped into her hair.

"I wont tell. I promise." I heard Caroline's voice and nodded, swallowing hard as I prepared to answer her question again.

"Lacey. She...wanted to kiss me earlier. And I think I wanted to kiss her back." I confessed, the feeling of a burden lifting off my shoulders was encouraging enough to make me continue.

"Oh, I think you wanted to do more than that, dear." Caroline teased and my cheeks burned for the second time today.

"I have no idea what to do about it but...I do want kiss her. See what it feels like at least. I also don't want to ruin our friendship. I'd be crushed if I lost her too." I continued sadly and she rubbed soothing circles on the back of my hand, the sudden feeling of being lightheaded was starting to consume me.

"You're not going to lose me, Leah. I'm always going to be here." the sound of Lacey's voice startled me, causing me to open my eyes. I jumped back in my seat when I saw her in Caroline's clothing. Same pleaded purple skirt, same purple headband, same white blouse. Same red lipstick.

"What...what the hell is happening?" I asked in panic and the woman before me smiled, reaching for my hand again. I gave it to her, suddenly powerless to stop her, and she brought me out of my seat to meet her.

"Just relax. This won't work if you won't let go." she suggested and I swallowed hard as she led me into the back of her tent, opening the curtain to a smaller room where she had an assortment of fluffy pillows that created a comfortable bed to lay on. There were candles standing proudly on candle holders around the pillows, and they smelled like fields of pure lavender. The scent relaxed me enough to close my eyes as I felt Lacey's hands tug at my dress, pulling it down until it fell and pooled around my feet.

My boots were next, and I felt her hands touch my bare calves as she pulled them off my feet, one by one. Her hands felt like blow torches against my skin but they never made me flinch. I trusted them too much. I simply craved for them to melt my flesh with the same impatience and longing her heated gaze did.

I got my wish and it caused a soft moan to escape my lips once I felt her hand dip into panties, a single finger rubbing at my clit after sliding inside me. I bit down on my bottom lip, the urge to undress her becoming too great to ignore as she finished undressing me.

I opened my eyes to find hers watching me intently, while I began to undress her. Her blouse was first. I pulled it above her head quickly, then untied the headband next, tugging down her skirt from her wide hips next. She'd been bare underneath her clothing this entire time and I felt my need for her gather heatedly between my thighs.

She took my hand then, dragging me towards the pillows, placing me down onto their softness, then she pulled my legs apart, propping them wide enough so she could see the damp center her fingers had created earlier. Lacey placed her body in between mine, our bodies lined up perfectly as she took my lips in hers, her tongue dipping into my mouth while her fingers did the same between my folds. Her tongue stroked and her fingers circled, spreading the wetness all over my center. My need for her was driving me mad, and I wasn't sure I was going to last long if she kept touching me like this.

She seemed to sense this and took her fingers out of me, focusing more on deepening the kiss. My skin sizzled with simmering sensuality. I've never wanted anyone else like I wanted her before and I'd be damned if I left here tonight without an orgasm from this stunning woman.

I decided to soak up some of her confidence and ran my hand down and in between her legs. She was just as wet as I was and I moaned when I felt her hips move against my hand. Her forehead rested on my own, as she dipped her fingers in my hair and tugged at it lightly. She wanted more of me, her body was screaming for it.

I wouldn't disappoint her.

My lips kissed their way down towards her breasts, taking each one into my mouth, my tongue flicking over the taut peaks before I moved down to her thighs, spreading them before me like she had done to me earlier. One lick was all it took for her to melt into my mouth. My hands grabbed onto her writhing hips and I continued to flick the tip of my tongue over her soaking wet folds. She bucked her legs around me, her muscles grabbing a hold on my lips as I continued to suck on her clit, my tongue swirling around it. Her hips jutted upwards as a loud moan slipped from her lips, while I licked every drop pouring out of her.

She pulled me up to her lips, her tongue colliding with mine hungrily as she tasted herself against my lips. Her eager hands dropped onto my backside, gripping hard as she rubbed herself along my thigh. She flipped us over quickly, a gasp escaping my mouth as she positioned herself on top of me once again, both of her thighs hugging my leg as she straddled the juncture between my legs. Both of our mounds were now pressing achingly against each others, her hips moving causing a delicious friction that I knew I'd never be able to live without again.

When her hips moved, I rocked my own against hers, moans filling the room with every thrust of her need urging me to come. Her lips ran along my calf as she brought it up to meet her mouth. I grabbed onto her backside and pulled on it hard, making her ride me faster. And when she did, my first orgasm of the night rocked through me.

I had no idea how she found more energy to continue but she flipped herself over, to where her mouth met my clit and her thighs straddled my face, her backside facing me now. My mouth watered instantly, and I pulled her against my tongue. She tasted even better than before.

But my attention was suddenly distracted by her tongue when it began to stroke at my center, swirling rapidly as she devoured my juices, sucking and licking until my hips moved frantically against her mouth. It only motivated me to do the same for her, so I used the tip of my tongue to enter her as deep as I could, moving it around until I found the spot that made her thighs quiver against my cheeks. I moaned loudly against her glistening flesh when I felt myself spill into her mouth once again, and she moved against my tongue, her deep groan filling my ears as she moved away from my center and continued to grind on my lips. I tugged at her clit with my lips and my tongue, drinking from her until she collapsed beside me.

And just like that, I was back in Caroline's chair, sitting across from her, like nothing ever happened.

"Leah? Are you okay? You look a little...flushed." Caroline asked with deep concern and I fanned myself with my fingers, looking around, regaining my bearings. I couldn't believe none of that was real. It still felt like it was...

"I...umm, yes. I'm fine. But I do have to go. Lacey is waiting for me." I answered her, as I stood up, pulling my hand away from hers.

"Did you get the answers you were looking for at least? I can send the messages but I can never read them." she informed me, and I smirked as I looked at the woman who just showed me what happiness looked like.

"Yes, I believe I have. Thank you, Caroline." I told her, giving her one last hug before I headed back to our tent. Lacey was just about to pack up my clothes into a bag when I entered and I noticed she had changed back into her old clothes while I was gone.

I couldn't wait until she let me rip them off her. My skin still tingled from her touch. Or what I hoped would be her touch by the end of the night. I wasn't sure if what happened in Caroline's tent was actually real but I was glad she had shed a light on the next chapter in my life.

"How'd it go?" Lacey asked as she handed me my purse and my bag full of clothes.

"She gave me a gift. Would you like to see it?" I answered and she looked at me strangely before nodding.

"Sure. Let's see it." she replied and I placed my belongings aside before I grabbed onto her cheeks and kissed her deeply. She froze at first but relaxed once I pulled her closer to me.

"What...uh...what was that for?" Lacey asked as she studied my face for any sign of regret and I smiled at her, touching her cheek slightly.

"For...everything. And I'd like to return the favor. If you'd let me, of course." I responded and she looked too stunned to answer me so I kissed her again.

"Would you let me be your naughty gypsy for the rest of the night?" I whispered against her soft lips.

I didn't need a crystal ball to know what her answer was. Lacey kissed me back and smiled along my swollen lips before pulling away to look at me.

"I thought you'd never ask."
